House Proud - Bowerbird Original Linoprint

Regular price $100.00

House Proud is an original handmade linoprint of a Satin Bowerbird in his bower and has been made with multiple plates.

Bowerbirds like to collect things to decorate their bower to attract females for mating. Why blue though? One theory is that the male birds are emulating their own blue feathers (and thus it will intince the females). Another theory is that because blue is rare in nature, a collection of blue things reflects the bird's intelligence and resourcefulness. Either way, it makes for a curious scene.

The print has been made with two hand-carved blocks which has then been inked up with artist-quality ink. Paper is then laid over the blocks and hand-burnished before the print is pulled. This print would be perfect for your favourite bird nerd.

Size: A4 (21 x 29.7cm)
