The Watcher
The mermaid is such a well-loved mythical creature. They hold an appeal for Rowan because she grew up by the sea and spent many happy hours in the water. She always wished that she could stay far longer under the water than she could. At a deeper level, 'The Watcher' represents the process of observing something which we can not have and letting it go.

Single Plate Lino Print
A single plate print is the most simple method of linoprinting, where one carved block is inked up in a single colour and printed, with any additional colours either hand-painted in afterwards or added using smaller individual stamps.
Meet the Artist
Rowan Sivyer is an Australian printmaker who is mostly inspired by native flora and fauna, patterns and food. She creates in a home-based studio in the vibrant Inner West of Sydney. Rowan is compelled to create daily, printing and carving most days.
